Fall of the I-Hotel

Curtis Choy

This program explores the historical intersections between the San Francisco International Hotel (I-Hotel) evictions and the San Francisco Gay Liberation movement, specifically around coalition building, civil rights and organizing, labor unions, and gentrification.

The San Francisco International Hotel evictions and the San Francisco Gay Liberation movement intersected through coalition building, shared concerns for civil rights and organizing, the fight for labor rights, and the impacts of gentrification. These intersections demonstrate how diverse social justice movements can come together to support each other's causes and address common challenges faced by marginalized communities.
